Hey, I own guns...but I know that a gun is nothing like a car. A car is meant to transport people. Many modern firearms were designed specifically and with the sole purpose to project metal into a living target.

How would you feel about your government coming to you and saying, "We've decided that you don't need those guns"? Very often, the law looks for just such parallels and equivalences, in determining what is or is not appropriate in the area of regulation. A firearm has many lawful purposes, just as a car does.
