Toward the end of GWB's final term, the same type of worries arose...a handful of folks thought we'd see martial law, a postponing of the general election, and GWB staying in office.

It didn't happen then and it's extremely unlikely to happen now.

I know folks that stock food and water -- Mormons like to keep about a 6-month supply on hand.

Martial law in the US would likely be selective with military "governors" assigned to certain areas where the military would rule. I believe they had it after a bad earthquake in Cali (LA or San Fran) - the military executed lots of looters.
