I am always fascinated by Trump rallies and the people holding signs. 'Veterans for Trump' appears often. When you read Trump's history with vets you gotta wonder why? Often his promise of support only comes after media has called him out on his promises. Sad. And then there is his criticism of John McCain and Gold Star families. Even sadder.

"US president Donald Trump, who once said that "disabled veterans" were "clogging and seriously downgrading" Fifth Avenue and that veterans selling goods on the "most important and prestigious shopping street" would make the "image" of New York City "suffer" if the "deplorable situation" wasn't stopped, called the widow of La David Johnson, a Green Beret killed in action in Niger, and reportedly told her that her husband "knew what he signed up for" but that it "hurts anyway"; Trump tweeted that he had "proof" that Florida congresswoman Frederica Wilson, who had recounted the details of the call, had "totally fabricated" his words, but did not specify what his proof was; Trump's chief of staff defended the president by holding a press conference in which he said that journalists should watch a "very, very good" movie about a soldier he served with who was killed in action, that it was "not the case anymore" that women were "looked upon with great honor," and that Wilson was an "empty barrel" who had lied about obtaining $20 million in funding from the federal government for an FBI building in her district; a video surfaced showing that Wilson, who was not serving in Congress at the time the money was granted, had not lied about securing the funding but had been involved in naming the building after two slain agents of the FBI, an agency that Trump accused of paying for opposition research against him; Johnson's widow told journalists that Wilson's account of her call with Trump was "one hundred percent correct" and that what "hurt me most" about the conversation was that Trump initially couldn't remember her husband's name, which she said made her "very, very upset"; and Trump tweeted that he had not forgotten Johnson's name. "I had a very respectful conversation" tweeted Trump, who has said that he likes soldiers that "weren't captured," that the mother of a US soldier killed in action did not speak about her son's death because she was a Muslim, that a captured US soldier returned to the country after five years in a Taliban prison should be executed, that "strong" veterans don't get PTSD, that although the US military buys Viagra for male soldiers it should not pay for the medical treatment of transgender service members, that he couldn't recall which of his feet had the bone spur that allowed him to avoid being drafted for the Vietnam War for the fifth time, and that his "personal Vietnam" was having sex with women in the 1990s without contracting a sexually transmitted disease."

We were out yesterday and a bumper sticker had a veterans for Trump sticker. I can't figure it out as Trump's actions are hardly helpful to vets. So i came back to this thread and added some more information. I was happy to see the many views.

"While disabled veterans should be given every opportunity to earn a living, is it fair to do so to the detriment of the city as a whole or its tax paying citizens and businesses? Do we allow Fifth Ave., one of the world’s finest and most luxurious shopping districts, to be turned into an outdoor flea market, clogging and seriously downgrading the area?” Donald Trump

So why the support? And this question is about policy, not the usual equivalency apologetic rebuttal.

"Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home -but not for housing. They are strong for labor - but they are stronger for restricting labor's rights. They favor minimum wage - the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all - but they won't spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine - for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing - but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing - so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it." Either the vets for Trump think that Trump has qualities that over come his draft-dodging, or the vets for Trump accept it because his opponent(s) are vastly worse.

I was glad to hear there is another Veteran's ad opposing Trump and ask that he be presidential. I think that's impossible but.... When it is out, I'll post it.

A few days ago my wife and I visited 'the Berkshire Museum' in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, I got in for free. Nice gesture.

    Older info for the interested.

The ad is out of bounds. Since when do veterans fall under the health care purview of the ACA?

Harry S. Truman
GOP: "We Got Ours; We're Not Going to Let You Get Yours."
DNC: "We Got Ours; We're Going to Give Yours Away."

The alternative party to Trump's not only dodged the draft, they called the troops "baby-killers." Despite their pretense of being pro-labor, they are spoiled brats who snobbishly look down on working people as "losers too lazy to go to college." Against the will of the working class, whom they want to boss around on the pretext of knowing what's best for us, they forcibly integrated the working force with lazy and incompetent races who don't pull their weight on the job. They also legalize social issues that are disgusting to the average American, believing that we will change our attitudes once we get used to the smell of their New Age sewage.

The education they take pride in is for teenagers who are afraid to grow up. When these fatcats' fatkittens live off fat allowances while in college, plus tuition fully paid by Daddy, they preach that free tuition alone will satisfy the lower classes. In short, the Democratic Party hasn't been democratic for decades; if they were, they'd obey the will of the majority without sassing back at us.
On the outside, trickling down on the Insiders

We won't live free until the Democrats, and their voters, live in fear.

Absolutely wrong. Many millennial out of the military fall for the socialist bullcrap and want free stuff.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.
