I'm not totally sure since we didnt keep track but I know we were atleast five miles in and the elevation goes up atleast 1,000 feet along the trail up until we get to the alpine lakes and ponds.

It thankfully wasn't as hot as they said it was going to be, still in the 90's though, but a great hike nonetheless. Mount Jefferson is probably one of my favorite areas to hike and camp.
If you are going to lie on rocks do it while you're young . It looks painful to me. LOL. It does look like a nice hike. Is the trail all hard scrabble rock or is some of it just dirt forest floor?
