Explain how we are better as a nation economically, culturally and are we safer - all because of immigration?

In a functioning market economy, nobody can consume more than they produce over the long run unless they're the recipient of voluntary charity.

So, for example, someone who picks oranges twelve hours a day has produced X amount of value, which means they are only able to consume X amount of value through trade.

Well you didn't say anything about subsidies in the opening post, just immigration viewed in isolation.

But if you want to introduce subsidies into the discussion, I will simply respond by saying I'm opposed to subsidies and that they wouldn't exist in a free market except insofar as people were willing to provide charitable assistance voluntarily.
