Chicago homicides up 55%...
Homicides Increase by 55 percent in Chicago
November 7, 2016 - For the second weekend in a row, more than 50 people were shot in Chicago as the number of homicides this year rose to more than 50 percent above the same period last year.
More than 660 people have been killed in the city so far this year, according to data compiled by the Tribune. Barring an exceptional slowdown, Chicago is on pace to exceed 700 homicides by year's end for the first time since 1998. The number of people shot in Chicago this year is more than a thousand above what it was this time last year, from 2,620 to 3,795, according to Tribune data.
From Friday afternoon to late Sunday, 10 people were killed and 41 others were wounded in shootings across Chicago, police said. Among the wounded was a 78-year-old man who was dragged out of a car in Englewood on Sunday and shot in the head. He was listed in serious condition. Five people were shot in a single attack in Uptown early Saturday morning, police said. Two men, two women and a 17-year-old boy were shot about 1:35 a.m. in the 4800 block of North Winthrop Avenue. They were all taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.

Law enforcement sources said none of them provided details of the shooting to investigators. The most recent fatal shooting was at 2:15 p.m. Sunday in Roseland, where two men ages 19 and 20 were shot. Both were hospitalized in what police initially said was good condition, but the 19-year-old later was pronounced dead. The two were shot in the 11100 block of South Michigan Avenue, the same block where another 19-year-old man was killed last week.
In addition to the fatal shootings, a man was stabbed to death in Chatham late Sunday. He was found with stab wounds to the chest after a fight in the 8300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue and pronounced dead at the scene. On Saturday, 25-year-old Joshua Beal was shot to death by Chicago police in a chaotic encounter Mount Greenwood. Police characterized it as a road-rage incident that led to an off-duty Chicago police officer and sergeant firing their weapons. Beal's death was ruled a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds, a technical ruling that does not indicate legal culpability for the death.

Democrat governance is such a smashing success. I can't wait for Hillary Clinton to turn America into one giant version of Chicago's southside.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

There have always been people in Chicago who would prefer that police prevent them from being injured, but that never caused a single cop to appear like Batman to prevent someone from being raped, robbed, beaten or murdered.
This might be the stupidest post I've ever responded to.
Legislation is used for evil more than for good. There should be a law against it. Really, enforcing the laws on the books, don't steal, don't murder, would preclude legal enforcement of legislation, so that would be enough.

700 murders in Chicago this year so far... Grim milestone as Chicago murders surpass 700 Friday 2nd December, 2016: The number of murders in Chicago topped 700 for the first time in almost two decades, the US city's police department said Thursday (Dec 1).With a month to go in 2016, the number of killings, almost all involving guns, is now more than 50 per cent higher than last year and stands at 701 - the most since 704 murders took place in 1998. There are more murders in this, the nation's third largest city, than in the two largest (Los Angeles and New York) combined. "The levels of violence we have seen this year in some of our communities is absolutely unacceptable," the city's police chief Eddie Johnson said in a statement. Law enforcement officials say much of the violence is related to the drug trade, illegal guns and gang battles. "Gangs and criminal elements appear to be more emboldened than in years past," police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told AFP earlier this month. There have been 3,315 shooting incidents in the city so far, police said, 316 of them in November alone. The city is awash in illegally obtained guns, which is a major contributor to the problem, Guglielmi said. "Most cities are seeing a lot more guns being seized. Gun arrests are up," he said. City and state officials are attempting to change laws to crack down on gun offenders and make sure they serve longer sentences. The increase in bloodshed has come at a time of increased scrutiny for the Chicago Police Department, which is under a federal civil rights investigation for its treatment of African Americans. Relations with majority-black communities are strained, especially after the release late last year of a video showing a white police officer fatally shooting black teenager Laquan McDonald 16 times, even after he had fallen to the ground. The video of the 2014 shooting - which was withheld from the public at first - shocked the city and the nation, and led to murder charges against officer Jason Van Dyke, who shot McDonald. The police chief moved to fire seven other officers involved in allegedly covering up Van Dyke's actions. Their cases are still under investigation. Chicago police "will use every tool available to hold violent offenders accountable and will continue to work strategically to address crime and uphold its commitment to rebuild public trust", Johnson said. The city is planning to hire nearly 1,000 additional police officers over the next two years to bolster its force and help combat the rise in crime. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...0/3335966.html
The hoods need neighborhood watch groups with some bite and cops to continue looking the other way.

40 People Shot in Chicago Over Holiday Weekend
December 26, 2016 - Police in the Midwestern U.S. city of Chicago say more than 40 people were shot over the Christmas weekend, with 12 of the victims dying.
The news comes as Chicago, the nation's third-largest city, faces a wave of violence, with homicides increasing 40 percent since last year. The holiday violence includes a family Christmas party where two people were killed and several others wounded. Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters Monday that 90 percent of those killed this weekend had gang affiliations, criminal histories, or were pre-identified by officials as being a potential offender or victim of gun violence.

Johnson argued that politicians need to strengthen gun sentencing laws. "This unacceptable level of violence demonstrates the clear and present need for policymakers to convene in January and give Chicago the gun sentencing tools against repeat gun offenders so that we can begin to change this narrative. "If you pick up a gun and shoot somebody you should go to prison, period, that's the end of that story. ... Some people want to give them a pass for it. I don't," he added.
Johnson said officers also seized 45 guns from city streets this holiday weekend, which he said is higher than a typical weekend. More than 700 homicides have been reported in Chicago this year. That is up from less than 500 homicides last year. Police say most of the killings have occurred in Chicago's southern and western neighborhoods. Although crime rates in Chicago and the rest of the United States remain well below those between 1990 and 1995, homicides began to surge in numerous large cities last year.

But I thought that once you took the guns away from the Law Abiding Citizens everything would be ok?
