Cellulitis is actually surprisingly common. People with any form of peripheral neuropathy can't really feel when they injure themselves (includes diabetics, who also get ulcers more frequently).

Hope you're feeling better. It's a crappy thing to have. Usually, you get 3-5 days of IV Ancef and sometimes the "good" drugs for pain.

Side note: It could be worse. I had a case many years ago where there was autoamputation of the toes secondary to a cellulitis infection in an IV drug user that went ignored for too long... very extreme case, but if I ever have children I will push first aid knowledge and say, "You know, it really could fall off..." Makes for a good life lesson. Well, that and just don't do drugs, I guess.

My wife kept telling me to go to the hospital and I finally relented. We had to call the ambulance.

To make it short I was in the hospital 5.5 days. I had cellulitis in both my legs. I never even heard of it before, but its pure misery. The pain is horrific, the nurses told me I handled it better than anyone theyve seen but I didnt believe it.

I still feel like crap and I can only walk with a walker, I still have alot of pain but nothing compared to what it was. Ive never been laid up like this and its making me rammy. I dont not like to be waited on.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I've seen cellulitis - it definitely looks painful. I really hope you get better soon.

I dont have any of that neurapathy or diabetes, I do feel when im injured just like anywhere else, i have no idea how I got this, I have to go to the infectious disease Dr tomorrow, apparently they are the ones that treat this.

The infection was gone after 5 days but my feet are still swollen an painful and I cant walk without a walker because the pain makes me unstable

Back in April 2011, I had to stay overnight in the hospital with an inflamed intestine. It hurt to pee, breathe, just generally exist. They thought it was appendicitis at first.

Other than that, only time I've been to the hospital since '05 was last Saturday (the 8th). My dad had a light stroke.

    Hope you get better!
