I wanted to make this post months ago. I didn't care that the hate for Hillary was so strong that heads would pop. I just didn't want to be too partisan, so I just stuck to debunking the many lies told about Hillary. Many of my liberal peers didn't like her as well, but the truth is the truth, and I'm going to say it.
When Republicans noticed that Hillary was wildly popular and might run for the Presidency, they started a campaign of defamation. When they got control of the Senate in 2010, they used it as their kangaroo court to investigate every aspect of Hillary's life. They left no stone unturned as they tried to publicly criminalize her -- accusing her all all kinds of awful things which were all unfounded.
After all those allegations, nothing bad was found other than using emails irresponsibly. Ironically, those emails that they hoped would incriminate her did the exact opposite: they showed her as a smart, caring, lawful person who respected people, her job and America. They showed how much she cared about family and charity -- Not just the Trump Foundation, but individuals in need.
Hillary has been fighting for those in need her entire adult life and she's been vilified for it.
The four-year smear campaign wasn't about justice. As Republican leaders confessed, it was just a smear job. It's no longer needed, so Republicans will move on to smearing Democrat Senators. But the damage was done. They significantly damaged the reputation of a good, decent person. As she was accused of epilepsy, ear pieces, stand-down orders, murder, and all kinds of the accusations from the usual sleazeballs, she kept trudging on.
When people would say, "I would vote for Hillary, but she's corrupt," I'd immediately ask them what was corrupt about her. I'd only get blank stares or stammers. The GOP did a wonderful job of making Hillary's biggest crime that of "being Hillary."
Hillary Clinton is a good role model for girls and she'll eventually be remembered for being the person she truly is and not the person many people wished she was.
