Actually, @Ransom, the polls were for the most part accurate.
RCP had Hillary +2 on election eve.
Hillary won 48.2-46.1. That's 2.1 points, well within the margin of error.

RCP had Hillary +2 on election eve...in national polls that even the CNNs and MSNBCs and Buzzfeed told you wasn't how Presidents were elected Bether. That's why all the reporting on "paths to 270", that's why all the late campaigning by both campaigns in Florida and Pennsylvania, that's why Obama went to North Carolina to campaign....because we all understood it's a electoral college elector race, the Presidency is won on 270 electoral votes...not 63 million popular votes. And all of their state polls were wrong......and the reason you shined with confidence such was your self assurance and arrogance.
Ka f'n boom!
Absolutely. Done objectively, polling works.
Good times for we over here on the right.....for you on the Left, that remains to be seen.GOOD TIMES!
So...the pundits and you shouldn't have been as shocked as you were. Also, the state polls were almost all WITHIN THE MARGIN OF ERROR.
Depends on polling size and objectivity. That's all polls can do. In most cases? +/-4 points.
Bethere, you can return to election day after and look to even the objective pollsters and analysts like the UVA Professor Larry Sabato who came out and admitted....they were wrong. That something in the polling matrix went horribly wrong. You can defend all you want, even the professional pollsters aren't defending noe denying, but admitting they were wrong. Odd you'd find need to defend. The vast majority of polls met that criteria easily.
Let's take what Bethere says here above....and then look at what Larry Sabato said the day after election 2016.
Even adding at the end that "we, the whole industry, have a lot to learn from this."“We were wrong,” Sabato said. “The entire punditry industry, the entire polling industry, the entire analyst industry – and I want to use this opportunity to take my fair share of the blame – we were wrong.”“We, the whole industry, have a lot to learn from this,” he added.

Then we have Bethere telling us there is nothing to learn, polls weren't wrong, it's all good.
Somebody tell Bethere!Pollsters flubbed the 2016 presidential election in seismic fashion.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...tion/93523012/Polls that consistently gave Clinton a comfortable lead in recent weeks included Bloomberg Politics, CBS News, Fox News, Reuters/Ipsos, USA TODAY/Suffolk, Quinnipiac, Monmouth, Economist/YouGov and NBC News/SM, according to RealClearPolitics.
Of 67 national polls tracking a 4-way race since the start of October, only four gave Trump the lead, according to RealClearPolitics. Of 61 national polls tracking a 2-way race during that period, six gave Trump the lead.
And all six were the L.A. Times/USC poll.
One key source of the misfire for pollsters: They overestimated Clinton's support among minorities and underestimated Trump's support among white voters.
"One of the things that pollsters are going to have to look at are their expectations about the nature of the electorate," said Joshua Dyck, political science professor and co-director of the Center for Public Opinion at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
The blaze. Nice source. Lol.
Sabato is a good man, an expert. A very friendly guy. But he is in the business of INTERPRETING polls and he got burned.
Don't confuse the polls themselves with the talking heads paid to interpret them.
If a poll said clinton by 2 that covers everything from clinton by 6 to trump by 2. That's because of the margin of error.
in this case it was clinton by 2.1. That's well within the margin of error. Heck, it was almost exact.
Tell your expert to go back and audit Public Opinion 101.

Here's a great story that addresses trump's concern/phobia that he isn't a legitimate president.
