@Green Arrow - one other point I have to make on this topic, my personal feelings.
I don't feel the need to say "I'm proud of my country" because I have to, I gave up on that jingoism bull$#@! a long, long time ago. I am not proud of many things my country did (and does) and I don't believe we are the "heros" of the planet and our intentions were always (or often even, or sometimes even) just and true. I'm smarter than that but what I won't do is disrespect those who feel love and dedication to this nation.
I will not do that ever. I will support someone's refusal to serve in what myself and others believe are unjust wars but I will not criticize those who served and want to serve because they feel strongly to do so.
I keep saying "my country" and I do have a glimmer of wanting to feel part of a united common good but our society has deteriorated to the extent that polarization is so strong, there is very little common unity and I won't blame conservatives for that. I'll not disrespect that and because punks like Kapernick and other progressives who feel that it's their duty to further divide this nation by throwing it under the bus at will, they can all go suck a bag of flaming dicks.
And yes, teh O'bama promoted this during his tenure.

I never disrespect veterans.
Not for being vets, anyway. If you say something stupid I'm going to call you on it regardless of your profession. Ask @Hal Jordan, I'd tell God that He was wrong if I thought it was necessary.
