what is a constitutional republic if not the delegation of one's vote to another person?

Like Ben Franklin I don't believe the rule of the mob is a good thing.

I don't think enough Americans would take direct democracy seriously. I also don't see why we should.

Exactly. If people are too stupid to rule themselves, why do we let them choose representatives?

    The objection doesn't hold up.

If they don't take it seriously, they should delegate their vote to a person who does, who can then propose and vote on legislation, on their behalf.

In the mean time, I would be allowed to not have my political future forced on me by the mob, through voting on a representative.

    I agree with that.

I personally think there should be voting standards. I would support a literacy test as well as tougher eligibility requirements, maybe something along the lines of some form of public service, land ownership... something that gives you a stake in the game.

    That is a terrible idea.

it has already been established in this last election. We voted to keep more corruption out, and with any kind of luck, the swamp you call Eden will be drained
It isn't, actually. I genuinely think this is a good idea. I would appreciate it if you would respond appropriately.

Well actually that was done to keep it local and get the best of local to elect the leaders.

There was no presidential popular vote by design!

Furthermore everyone did not have a VOTE!

So I say we enact some sort of testing, keep the black and female suffrage and then let the vote happen. Oh, wards of the state (welfare bums!) get no vote! Also congressional raises need to be put to a vote, a popular vote!
