We are aware of all those things and none of that makes us insignificant at all. Tiny by scale but the scale runs in many directions from the macro to the micro and possibly dimensions we don't know about..yet. And as far as we know there is no other intelligent life out there and we are the only witnesses to the wonders of our universe. For us the macro gets smaller all the time and the micro grows larger as we learn.

Yes, this election shouldn't get the hard left so upset..... Their girl lost and no longer gets large fees to speak to people who want to do business with the US government.

Wonderful pics and it is always somehow peaceful to gain perspective through the natural world. That said, I'm still pretty important to ...me as are my family and friends. But yes, raging on about an election that has no real meaning in geological time is a hobby at best and a needless stroke at worst.

George Carlin did a hilarious routine about all the people wanting to "save the planet" and went on to say something to the effect that the planet had been here for 4 billion years and could not be put in danger by the likes of us. He said the planet could shed us like water off a ducks back and never miss us. What the save the planet crowd is really interested in is saving conditions favorable to .... themselves.

I've put it this way for a very long time. If we continue to over populated the planet can and will take a flea dip and a new stone age will begin with 1-5% of our current population.
