Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

You take "evidence" from Chris "Tingly Leg" Mathews and blame the audience for your failure. My god, you are an Obama supporter. You posted nonsense based on the ramblings of a maniac and you blame the audience.
I am curious, though. What is your take on President Obama's administration illegally pressuring companies who do business with the government to not notify employees of pending lay-offs? Is that coercive? We know it's illegal but would you consider that coercive?

Yeah, I probably should've tried harder to make the argument or something, but I wouldn't have to elsewhere. I've just realized that this simply a receptive audience to anything that I might say so...what's the point? Why bother? I'm debating whether to just leave.patrickt wrote:

Chris isn't a "maniac" by the way, but...oh, why bother? Forget it, you're not listening. I'm done with this thread. I'll let you know if I decide to leave the forums altogether.

I'm here to dialogue with people, but it rarely seems to matter how hard I try. I can write ten paragraphs and get nothing but one-sentence dismissals. It's frustrating, you know?
I'm no longer talking about this particular thread, but just in general. It's demoralizing to always be dismissed no matter what. It might be more productive to take my thoughts elsewhere.

Well of course. I know what the "right product" for here would be. I'd get a bazillion Thanks and non-stop compliments if I just proclaimed myself a libertarian, Obama a radical Marxist, and blah blah blah blah blah. But that's just not what I think. That wouldn't be real. I have to be me. You know what I mean?Yelserp Sivle wrote:

Anyhow, I'm not trying to "convert" people to my politics broadly. I know that's not going to happen. This is a right wing message board. I know that I was REALLY invited here for the reason that all progressives are: to be mocked and humiliated by the majority for their amusement. I just thought it possible to maybe make something productive out of it by starting some serious discussions of the issues. Maybe I could learn something too, you know? But you don't learn much when nobody engages you. Sometimes people here do, but it's so rare that it's just depressing.

Problem, polly, is, if your long argument is based on a false premise, then simply pointing out the false premise is sufficient, the argument falls like a house of cards.
Your OP is not an example of an employer threatening employees, as other have pointed out, but an employer who feels threatened by the existing regime. What he's voicing is a concern many businesses have about an uncertain future and reason for the long recovery from what should have been a shallow and show recession.
