But that is wht govrnments tend to do, they move from freedom towards control.

Getting guns without jumping through hoops, not being spied on, not being told how high to grow our grass, not having whistle blowers hunted down like dogs , repealing portions of the unpatriaot act, a fair and equitable tax system, not having at least one sex have to sign up for selective slavery, not having our young troops patriotic intentions misused for corporate glory. . Little things like that.

It makes more sense to start with 2008's ranking, because that was the last year Bush was President. It still dropped, but not as much as it did from 2009.
