Well the Bible is supposed to be the word of God so taking it literally is important to them...

The Old school religion called 'catholic' gets the importance of science.
They do? How does today's Catholicism "get" the importance of science?

'Murica' religion wants it shut down.
So I Googled "'Murica' religion" but came up short. What is that and what is it shutting down again?

    Just.

    Wow, f'ing wow.

    Agreed.

By accepting many of the scientific theories that form the basis for our present understanding of the natural world, i.e., evolution, cosmology, etc.

Not only that, Catholics have made major contributions to scientific fields of study. Two Catholics in particular, Gregor Mendel and Georges Lemaître, are more or less responsible for the development of entirely new fields of scientific study, genetic inheritance and cosmology, respectively.

This can be attributed in large part to Catholicism's rich intellectual tradition. So while there were certainly some, shall we say, hiccups along the way, on the whole Catholicism has actually been a net positive for science and intellectualism in general.

I'm not one to deny the Catholic's Church impact on society nor it's effectiveness with it's believers but I would not presume to say Catholics have accepted evolution. I think you might have outliers but I would be remise to say that the Catholic church has now embraced evolution.

Again I am not taking away from any Christian religious organization as 90% of them are charitable in nature.

I grew up as a Catholic in a Catholic community in suburban Chicago. Catholics are generally very accepting of science.

Logically, there is nothing inconsistent with Catholic theology and evolution. They simply interpret evolution as a product of God's design.
