    Religion in America.

WTF is American Protestant religion in America so literal in it's obsession with 'bible'?
The Old school religion called 'catholic' gets the importance of science.
'Murica' religion wants it shut down.

    Just.

    Wow, f'ing wow.

    Why so... Worshiping of... stupid?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Some protestant denominations -- fundamentalists -- use a semi-literal translation of the bible, while others, Brethren, Congregationalists, Mennonite, focus on certain aspects and ignore others. The more liberal denominations tend to take softer Jesus-centric approach.

I've never really considered the Roman Catholic Church to be in cahoots with science. I mean "transubstantiation," really?

Religion isn't for me -- but I tend to judge it by the acts of its adherents. In the US today, most Christians are decent folks that are just trying to get by. A few are extremists but not to the extent that they're out slicing and dicing those who disagree with them, as ISIS is. Christians in South Africa are a different story, but that's related to the culture and events going on down there.

Overall, I'd have to say that Christianity is better than Islam by a pretty large margin. Christianity evolved after the Dark Ages and Islam still lives in those dark ages. I know. I know. There are exceptions to the rule. I'm just talking about the rule.

Or, are you talking about something else, entirely?

Some people believe in the government. That does harm. No harm in religious beliefs.

Government is real. Religions believe in myths and fantasies.

Some other people believe in free market. That does harm.

Religions are chains to the reason. Are the prison of the reason and the illustration. So, yes they do harm.

Oh, the government is real alright, real at creating problems, and limiting liberty.

I suppose there are those who believe in myths, but there are more who believe in more.

You'll have to explain how the market free from force does harm. What myths do you believe in here?

Chains, prisons, nice metaphors, unless you start to believe the metaphors are real.

Chain and prison are not metaphors. Is a reference to what is the religion.

My only belief is the reason and what can be proved and demonstrated.

Of the major Christian sects, Catholicism is undoubtedly the most scientific-minded of them all. In fact, entire fields of scientific study can be attributed in large part to Catholics like Mendel and Lemaître.
