Lefties have hijacked all of the political terms that describe one's political position, so it can be tricky to identify what people really are, even when they tell you. It seems that it is trendy to claim various terms that are further right, and even trendier to identify with a hybrid term that uses two political terms instead of one. I have had to summarize how I classify people in today's political landscape, since lefties have started "identifying" with righty political terms the way lefties "identify" with using the wrong restroom. For me, I draw the line at what people did on Nov 8. Did you actively block Hillary? If you did, you voted for Trump, and you are a righty in the current political landscape. If you wrote in your dog's name, stayed home, voted Hillary, voted for a candidate other than the only two who were relevant in the election, or otherwise did not vote for Trump, you are a lefty.
I would imagine that the way I have simplified how I see people will be way off base for lefties who are not as far left as others, but I also am confident that the political terms that we have all known up until this last election cycle have become obsolete. By simplifying people into lefties and righties the way I do, I am telling lefties who have "identified" with a term that is to the right of what they have earned that I do not recognize their unearned title.
