That is something that will probably never change as long as there's a human element in the mix. There is a lot of truth in the acronym NIMBY (not in my back yard), things look different on TV, but when it hits close to home, our outlook tends to change quite a bit. Truth to the matter is this, there is no set guideline to protesting, there is usually no leadership, just organizers. So, as long as the majority will be judged by the few, there will probably not be any consideration given to how people feel about the movement.
"The powers of the federal government are enumerated; it can only operate in certain cases; it has legislative powers on defined and limited objects, beyond which it cannot extend its jurisdiction." James Madison 1788

I wouldn't either but if I were taking my kid to the ER and you stood in the way. I am going to get out of the car, I'm going to warn you to move and then I'm going to kill that person.
Ultimately this is the problem with road obstruction, the second it persists the more you realize the statistical certainety that you are blocking somebody from seeking medical care.
Somebody dies, manslaughter charge is warranted.
That's why Chris Christie should be in deep sheet.
I was in the class of persons potentially impacted. I was taking my grandfather for nonemergent treatment in NYC. If he had a heart attack on the bridge or before, I may have been pinned in
I WAS worried about that too, my grandfather is gone now, people eventually do pass. But when you obstruct traffic purposefully you are onstructing people from engaging in their lawful pursuits and if you stop them from getting to emergent medical care your culpability ranges from manslaughter to possibly murder depending on specific circumstances.
Any large demonstration in SF, Portland or Seattle areas brings a small contingency of anarchist A-holes Chloe. All it takes is a few bad apples to ruin everything.
When we were in Portland all through 1990s - also lived just a few miles from downtown. Multnomah area off SW Capitol Hwy.
Miss everything but the rain ;-)
