The Brits are the Donald Trumps of Europe, having just voted to leave the corrupt EU. Of course, that vote was done by the British majority and not their political class, so that helps explain the disconnect. In any case, preventing a close ally's chief executive from addressing your parliament seems a bit rash. Allies don't always have to agree on everything in order for them to maintain a stable and mutually beneficial relationship.

This reaction also strikes me as particularly un-British. What happened to having a "stiff upper lip" and respecting basic decorum and protocol? Whether we like it or not, Trump is the President of the USA, Britain's closest and most important ally. Snubbing him (and by extension his millions of supporters) seems rather impractical and petulant, don't you think?
