There are some in India who feel Valentine's Day is really not a part of Indian culture.

Valentine's Day is named after a Roman Catholic martyr -- St. Valentine, who is thought to have been a lover, not a fighter.

Does anyone else think it's odd that we still celebrate Saints? Non Catholics, I mean. And, commercialize the days to such an extent that the Saint behind the holiday is completely forgotten?

There is an entire state named after Christ's mother, you'll recall. Not to mention all the cities named after one Saint or another. And of course Santa Claus was originally called Saint Nicholas - and sometimes still is. There are religious vestiges aplenty in our culture, but if there's one thing Americans are great at it is secularizing things.
