Looked on topic to me - but as to your idea for stopping remittances?
Good luck with that ;-)

Well yes, of course they CAN ...
But hopefully you understand that Western Union is about one of a thousand ways to send money.
How will you be tracking and taxing a PayPal payment going to a Hotmail, Google, or Yahoo email address?
Sorry - won't fly in the Internet age.
How DO they collect sales tax?
For instance, I accept paypal and did you know Paypal sends me a 1099K which they report to the IRS every year. If that 1099 isn't reflected on my tax return, it night trigger an audit, though most likely a desk audit (people sometimes DO forget to enter some forms).
There is no need for me to pay into FICA any more than i have been, but fine with me if you'd like to make some basic reforms, although coupons, tax credits and HSA's ain't gonna cut it.
For everyone under the age of 50, not many would object to raising the age from 65/66 to 68 - as long as there was an exemption for physical laborers.
Cutting the military budget by 1/3 to 1/2 where it should be won't happen under Trump or that would pay for it too.
And cutting waste, fraud and abuse would assist even further.
Of course, it would never be you to pay. Other issues are other issues, I'd slash those too. Social Security and Medicare have separate line item contributuons. You favor raising the age?
Great, that's cutting benefits. You just said you were in favor of not cutting them. Before recipient gets 2k per month, now....he gets $0. That's a cut.
Right now to maintain benefits as the ratio of contributors to beneficiaries decreases, the contributions from the contributors must increase as a percentage of income.
But not your income. NEVER yours.
" as long as there was an exemption for physical laborers. "
The exemption is not an exemption. Social Security includes long term disability program. So if the person "wears out" (and I really dislike using that term" -- they'd be eligible for long term disability at 65....or 67.....
