Photos of naked female Marines reportedly shared on social media

    `
"The U.S. Marine Corps is investigating a veteran's allegations that military personnel and other veterans distributed nude photos of female colleagues and other women as part of a social media network that promotes sexual violence. Hundreds of Marines may be caught up in the scandal, the Marine Corps Times reported Sunday.

The revelation was first uncovered by a decorated combat veteran's non-profit news site and reported Saturday by the Center for Investigative Reporting. Maj. Clark Carpenter, a Marine Corps spokesman, confirmed that an investigation is underway, Marine Corps Times reported, but he said military officials were uncertain exactly how many personnel were involved." - Source

Gee, I wonder whose idea it was to throw a bunch of females into the mix.

They should have listened to Kipling.

I have mixed feelings about this.

The guys, had they been gentlemen, would not have spread, or "shared" the photos. And, they should not have shared them with words that indicated sexual "assault," which were probably more along the lines of "I'd hit that."

But the kicker for me is the fact that the female had posted them on Instagram to begin with. If an Instagram user does not set her account to "Private" anyone can see the photos -- and share them. Even if only a few people were allowed to see her photos -- she still ran the risk of them getting out.

Bottom line -- if you're going to put nude photos of yourself on the net -- anywhere on the net -- don't expect them to remain anonymous.

I think the investigation will chastise the males, but will also place blame on females who post nude photos of themselves online.

I have no mixed feeling about this nor am I inclined to agree with the apologists, misogynists and military fanbois. What these scumballs did was wrong on all levels. It was dishonorable, loathsome and disgusting. The excuse that she should have taken these shots is a complete mockery to women. The fake moralistic rationalizations here is hypocrisy supreme. This is another reason why I preach to kids; stay as far away from the military as you can.

You don't hire gentlemen to be enlisted marines. You hire people willing to kill others on command.

Sailors on a nuclear sub somehow took pictures / videos of two or three female officers taking showers on board. They were all disciplines (do not recall the details) but the female's navy careers were over. They had no authority to lead after those videos were put out to the fleet.

This kind of thing happens all the time -- outside of the military -- so the military aspect is really moot, in my opinion.

And, we're still faced with the fact that anyone who posts nude photos of themselves on the internet, may live to regret those actions.

If this is a reason to preach to kids why the military is awful, you might as well tell them to hide away from life, in general.

My approach is to teach kids not to post private information/images on a very public internet and to share intimate information only with people they completely trust.

This isn't so different from the Anthony Weiner episode, after all. And, that was shared all over social media -- much to Weiner's (and Huma's) chagrin.

That's very sad for the women, since they had no part in what happened. I hope the men in that case were appropriately punished.

Military no military, wherever there is men and women, there WILL BE sexual indications. You cannot change nature with military orders or laws. You can only punish the bad behavior after the fact.

When they wanted to mix men and women in the military, I made this statement, where ever there are men and women, there will be problems of a sexual nature.

It would be quite disengenous to blame ALL those problems on men.
Im not condoning any bad behavior by men in the military, I am saying wherever there are men and women you WILL have bad behavior
