Cutting Cutler: Bears dump QB in latest offseason overhaul.....

Bout fricken time. Now Da Bears have a chance at winning some games.

The Chicago Bears have closed the book on Jay Cutler's era as their franchise quarterback, an unfulfilling eight-year story that featured only one postseason appearance.

The Bears made cutting Cutler their first official move on Thursday when the NFL free agent market opened, while they were reportedly working toward an agreement to replace him with former Tampa Bay quarterback Mike Glennon.

With Brian Hoyer going to San Francisco and Matt Barkley also an unrestricted free agent, the Bears, who have not drafted a quarterback since Pace was hired after the 2014 season, could now turn to Glennon for their next audition.

Drafted in the third round out of North Carolina State in 2013 by the Buccaneers, Glennon had a decent rookie year with 19 touchdown passes and only nine interceptions over 13 starts. He was benched in favor of veteran Josh McCown in 2014 and ultimately usurped by No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston the following season.

The Bears also let Jeffery leave for Philadelphia at the start of yet another offseason overhaul at Halas Hall......snip~

Denver had high hopes for him too, for awhile.

Lots of Bears fans are celebrating but I don't know why. We just replaced the best Bears QB we've ever had with a nobody.

Here's a pretty good article about Cutlers rise and fall and the ripple effect it caused with other teams in the NFL. With all the trades and draft picks from when Denver traded him to Chicago it caused a cascade affect with other teams, like Dallas picking Dez Bryant. Cutler might have been better off had he been able to stay in Denver but maybe not. He didn't seem to be able to take constructive criticism and learn from his mistakes.

This article describes Cutler's Chicago career perfectly: Jay Cutler departs Chicago as Bears' most underappreciated, misunderstood QB ever

Denver fans weren't happy that Josh McDaniel's sent Cutler to Chicago because he wanted Matt Cassel and ended up with Kyle Orton. Then he drafted Tim Tebow! And he traded 3 picks to get him! Josh McDaniel's is a hated man in Denver. Some fans even thought he was a Patriots plant with the goal of wrecking the Broncos for a few years. I think he was just to young and way to arrogant to be a head coach. He might make a pretty good one now.
