What's worse than being on a jury is having to show up for jury duty and lose a whole day when you know they won't allow you on a jury. We never had a cop, serving or retired, on a jury. They give lots of reasons but I suspect the real reason is that the cops know too much about the attorneys.

You can try to disqualify yourself when they interview you for seating, by taking extremist views. Sometimes you can use a job TDY to be excused.

I would stress caution of committing easily verified perjury when dealing with a court. And, even if no one has been proscuted before, there's always a first for everything.
