Chevrolet Donates 50 Trucks to Red Cross for Storm Relief

Chevrolet today donated 50 Silverado full-size pickup trucks and Express cargo vans to the American Red Cross for use in relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy and other storms buffeting the Eastern seaboard and nearby states.

"It is during disasters like this that we all need to pull together as a country and Chevrolet has a role in that," said General Motors Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson. "Making these vehicles available quickly where they can do the most good is something we can do right now."

The trucks are being pulled from existing inventory at dealerships closest to where they are needed.

That's nice. Especially since they don't need a deduction on their income tax. They don't have to pay any.
""We did not pay federal income tax last year," said GM spokesman Jim Cain.
The Detroit News reported Friday GM earned profits of $1 billion in January through March but may not have a federal tax bill to pay "for many more years."

Wow, pointless tag teaming. Capitalism beats Obama communist dreams and is not paying taxes a talking point of the right? I could swear all the whining and lying I've heard and read about "not paying taxes" in the last few months have been left-wing talking point. Truthdoesn'tmatter, truth does matter. Try it.

And, if you'll note, I said it was nice of GM to donate the vehicle even if they don't need the tax deduction because they don't pay income tax anyway.

Do you have to turn Chevrolet's donation into a partisan issue? Time for Americans to pull together to get the ox out of the ditch.. instead of trying to make political points.

Are you under the impression that Cigar started a non-partisan thread. What can be non-partisan about Government Motors who has billions of our dollars donated 50 trucks? Give me a break. It is nice to see you posting on something besides pro-Palestinian anti-jew nonsense, though.

When is Government Motors going to pay the taxpayers back? Since they haven't, why are they giving away stuff when they owe us billions and billions of dollars?

Government Motors is acting like government, which should be to no one's surprise.

the same folks back-slapping GM for donating to the crisis today were dogging a private US citizen yesterday for gathering food, supplies and making a $5 million personal donation.

find it pathetic that GM still owes american tax payers $billions that will never be paid back, screwed shareholders out of $billions that will never be paid back and now are making donations with money that is not their's as if they have money to donate.

    IBD link attached>http://news.investors.com/ibd-editor...er-bailout.htm

"GM, on the other hand, still owes more than half the $50 billion in federal funds it received when the combination of the recession and its costly union contracts drove it into bankruptcy. And its lending arm, GMAC (now Ally Financial), still owes $14.5 billion."

"As it turns out, GM got Treasury's OK to "repay" more than $6.7 billion "using a portion of the escrow account that had been funded with TARP funds." So GM is merely paying the government back with government money, not money GM is earning selling cars, as the administration has claimed."
