No, that inevitably means murder of innocents at extreme costs to taxpayers.

Would one of the leftists explain the difference in executing eight people in eleven days and executing eight people in eleven months? If you're opposed to the death penalty, the schedule is irrelevant. If you support the death penalty, the schedule is irrelevant.

So, what's the issue? The most recent conviction for this group of murderers was 14 years ago. it's not like the process has been rushed. I realize for some their sympathy for victims is limited and for murderers is limitless but what difference does the schedule make?

If the law becomes unjust why should people look to the law for justice? Providing room, board, clothing, and entertainment for life put the murderers in the same category as Federal politicians.

One of the purposes of the criminal justice system is to replace personal justice, replace personal revenge, replace vendettas. When she system fails, totally, we're back to people taking not the law but revenge, justice, whatever, into their own hands.

What would you do if a man stabbed your daughter a minimum of 39 times killing her. He was then found not guilty by reason of insanity and sent to the state mental hospital. Six months later the state hospital said he was no longer mentally ill and might never had been and they wanted to turn him loose.

Now, my question is, would you have accepted his release as a father?

And, if we cannot accept a system that falls short of perfection, what do we do about O.J. Simpson? He got away with murder. What do we do about Ted Kennedy? He got away with vehicular homicide?

Arkansas Can Execute One Inmate Thursday Following Court Ruling on Drug

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/let...g-drug-n749156

    https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en&s...l+lee+arkansas

GRADY, Ark. - Although the state's executions are on hold due to a judge's temporary restraining order against one of the lethal injection drugs, Ledell Lee and Stacey Johnson will remain in holding cells next to the death chamber at the Cummins Unit.

The Arkansas Department of Correction spokesperson, Solomon Graves, said preparations will continue to move forward, pending the outcome of any appeals at the state and federal levels.

After more than 20 years on death row, both Lee and Johnson maintain their innocence, arguing they deserve post-conviction DNA testing.

In February 1993, 27-year-old Lee robbed and strangled 26-year-old Debra Reese in her Jacksonville home.
He then beat her 36 times with the same tire thumper her husband gave her for protection.

Her son was only six years old.

"My mother was everything to me," said Joseph Lucky.
"When she was ripped from my life, it started a spiral that I almost didn't recover from. My family has lived in the shadow of this event our entire lives."

Lee was sentenced to death two years after Reese's murder.

Prosecutors referred to him as a psychosexual serial rapist.

According to court documents, Reese wasn't Lee's only victim.
He committed violent crimes against five women, all in the Sunnyside area of Jacksonville. Some involved rape and some ended with murder.

The ages of Lee's victims ranged from 17 to 70.

"He is the embodiment of the evil that should never have to exist in this world," Lucky said.

After 21 years on death row, Lee maintains his innocence.

Arkansas execution of Ledell Lee delayed at 11th hour

    http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/0...234229682.html

Appeals court delays prisoner's killing for at least an hour as US state seeks to carry out first execution in 12 years.

A federal appeals court has delayed an Arkansas inmate's execution for at least an hour to review his request to stop his lethal injection scheduled for Thursday night.

The 8th US Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily stayed Ledell Lee's execution until 8:15pm on Thursday (01:15 GMT Friday) as it reviews his appeal.

It was the latest in a flurry of legal wrangling as the state seeks to carry out a series of executions before one of the drugs used in its lethal injection mix, the sedative midazolam, expires by the end of the month.

On Thursday evening, the US Supreme Court denied petitions to halt executions of several Arkansas inmates.

Earlier in the day, the top Arkansas court overturned a previous ruling that had blocked the use of one of the other three drugs the southeastern state planned to use.

    Arkansas Executes Ledell Lee

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/let...h-2005-n749156

State’s First Inmate Put to Death Since 2005

CUMMINS UNIT, Ark. — The state of Arkansas executed death row inmate Ledell Lee late Thursday, its first death sentence in more than a decade and the first of four inmates scheduled to die before the end of the month when a crucial lethal injection drug is set to expire.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear five last-minute appeals by Lee's attorneys to stay his execution, which began at 11:44 p.m. CT (12:44 a.m. ET). Lee was pronounced dead at 11:56 p.m., Arkansas Department of Correction Director Wendy Kelly said.

I oppose the death penalty for several reasons.

First, the death penalty is imposed arbitrarily. Even within the same state. A prosecutor in one county will seek the death penalty, but the exact same act does not reach that level in a neighboring county.

One also can't deny that a person from the underclass will be sentenced to death when a person of financial means often receives a lengthy prison sentence for the same crime.

I am not comfortable with giving government the power to determine who lives and who dies.

Also, the death penalty is final. When an innocent person is executed, there no remedy.
