I was asked my opinion about sex ed in the lower grades in school and the reporter was shocked when I said I was totally in favor.
    "Really? I didn't expect that."
"Of course. If the schools taught sex the way they teach reading, by the time kids reached puberty they wouldn't want to do it."

Take something basically simple, everyone can do it, and the government can screw it up.

Some of the victims of those on death row, died violent, painful deaths. I see no reason to make sure their deaths are humane.

Let the victim's families have at 'em, wouldn't cost the state a dime.

The state of Arkansas faces a new hurdle that could foil its plans to execute eight inmates over 10 days next month: a lack of volunteers from the public to watch.

Arkansas state code says that at least six "respectable citizens" must view the executions to confirm it was "conducted in the manner required by law." But the state's Department of Correction is struggling to come up with enough people, according to local reports.

Indicating the state's desperation, Wendy Kelly, the director of the Department of Correction, held a presentation this week to the Little Rock Rotary Club to solicit volunteers, NBC affiliate KARK reported.

"Temporarily, there was a little laugh from the audience because they thought she might be kidding," interim Rotary Club President Bill Booker told the station.

"It quickly became obvious that she was not kidding."

It has been nearly 12 years since Arkansas has used the death penalty.

That would violate the Constitutional prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.

I have always made the same statement about the Death Penalty.
It should be used rarely and reserved for the few humans that have proven themselves to be unsalvageable.

First Two Men Scheduled to Die Push for Delay

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/let...-delay-n745861

The first two men scheduled to be executed during Arkansas's historic spate of executions requested a delay Wednesday, citing the need to wait for the conclusion of a U.S. Supreme Court case.

Attorneys for death row inmates Don Davis and Bruce Ward have asked the Arkansas State Supreme Court to temporarily stay their executions, scheduled for April 17, until the conclusion of McWilliams v. Dunn, which is playing out in Washington.

Oral arguments in that case are expected to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on April 24 and will discuss whether a defendant sentenced to death in Alabama was denied access to an independent expert who could assess their mental health.

Arkansas Plans Execution for at Least One Man Monday

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/let...urdles-n747351

LITTLE ROCK — The Department of Corrections in Arkansas is gearing up to put at least one man to death on Monday night despite a number of legal hurdles that stand in the way of the state's planned executions.

Bruce Ward and Don Davis's executions were scheduled to begin Monday at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. respectively, but that plan has been put into question as the Arkansas Attorney General's office fights multiple legal challenges — including a judge staying Ward's execution after his lawyer said he was not mentally competent to face capital punishment.

Ward is believed to suffer from schizophrenia.

Nevertheless, the state's Department of Corrections said they moved Davis to its Cummins Unit, where the state's death chamber is housed, over the past few days.

Davis had filed his own legal challenges about his mental competencies — his lawyer said Davis has an IQ of 70 — but a federal judge rejected his stay request on Easter Sunday.

I'm against the death penalty. I don't believe the state has that right to decide who lives or dies.
    Not Debatable.
