Exploring on logging roads in the Northwest I used to hang a cowbell on my body so it clanged frequently for bear warning.
Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I digress....

@resister - I was thinking about you out there, there is a lot of wash which is basically dry creek beds that flow when it rains but is most of the time just dry. We're going back tomorrow and I'm going to spend a lot of time tracing that dry wash to see what I can dig up. Maybe a gold nugget lol, but more likely a coyote turd.

I find myself thinking about forum members when digging. We may fight like cats and brothers and dogs, but we are all kinda family.

These were the samples we brought back. We found one, should have taken a pic of it, it was huge, like. the size of a bowling ball and a half. It was split in, not half, maybe 1/3, 2/3. It was almost all quartz or something like quartz. A whole spectrum of stuff, we saw just about every color in there. Purple, red, white, green, it was amazing. I wanted to take it home but we were a mile or so from the car and I didn't want to lug that thing back. Maybe we'll pick it up tomorrow. My kid is coming with us this time, he'll lug it back lol.

Yeah lol, you should have seen the specimens we tossed back because we didn't have the capacity.

Taking a backpack tomorrow, for water mostly and a lighter. And some ziplocks, taking some of that sagebrush back, it smelled... so good.

She needs to be patient with me, I'm like a kid at Disney out there.

She figured out the sagebrush smell. Hiking in a dry bed she froze and it startled me a bit. She said something smells really sweet. I just got a whiff of something musty, like a skunk every now and then and I couldn't pick up that smell when I perused her area. She picked a few stems off of a blooming sagebrush plant near her and that was it.

It was awesome, going to steep it under a candle when we get some back.
