I have WIN 7, my last MS O/S. I'm learning Linux at the moment and when I feel confident enough, will switch to that.

Great idea, but I believe the problem with linux will be compatibility, it may get worse down the road for them

Win7 pro is the most stable opsys ever in my opinion

What about a Mac? I've never had one so I know zip about it. If I want to avoid Win10 is it worth going Apple?

I was skeptical usually do not upgrade until I absolutely have to, but I honestly don't mind Windows 10 now. It does randomly update and it irritates me, but other than that it hasn't been so bad.

    I don't mind 10.

I have 7 on my old netbook and have the internet functionality off on it.

Here's how to get free Windows 7 ... install a copy of windows 7 ... use almost any windows 7 key ... when you go to activate you will get a window that gives you many options to get your windows 7 activated ...

Use the automated phone system where you will be conversing with a 'bot ... (make sure you have no other computers with windows 7 on it turned-on) ... after reciting all the numbers in the blocks you will be asked how many computers have this copy of windows on it ...

State zero ... then proceed with all the other blocks.

Upon completion you will be activated with a genuine copy of Windows 7.

Now, when commencing to update, you will be asked to migrate to Windows 10 ... click remind me later and continue to update.

After the first 10 or 20 updates you will get a download that actually stops the updating service ... it tricks you into believing you need this update and you can't stop it, it has to be downloaded and installed ...

This is what forces you to migrate to Windows 10 because you can't get the next 400 updates for your Windows 7.

Then, download Windows6.1-KB3138612-x86 or x64 to Desktop or flash drive ... this overrides the update blocker.

    Install it and reboot.

You will now have a genuine copy of Windows 7 complete with its 526 updates you need to make the Windows 7 platform stable and of course genuine.
