When did I bring up any of that? Apparently you and D want to equate all the bad things our country has done over the years as an indictment of the symbolism of the US flag compared to that of the Rebel flag and its relation to slavery in the US. I don't think its a fair comparison.

Its not that the Confederate flag is wrong, as it is an important "document" of our countries history and a source of pride for many Americans. The flying of the Confederate flag at government or quasi government locations though is tantamount to legitimizing what it stands for in the minds of many Americans and is therefore IMO a mistake.

The topic is the intellectual standard that is being applied to the Confederate flag. We're merely taking the same standard and it applying it in another context as a means of demonstrating that standard's irrationality and impracticality.
