Legislator To University Fly Thelat Confederate Flag Or Lose State Funding

Mississippi is the "poorest" of 50 states and ranks bottom to dead last in almost every other category ranking amongst 50 states.

Yet up in Jackson our legistlature is working on the really important issues to the people like whether State Universities should be forced to display the State Flag.

"Note" we are the last remaining State Flag remaining from the Confederacy after Georgia adopted a new state flag in 2003."

Don't most universities fly the national flag, their state flag, and their school flag?

I don't think a law forcing them to do so should be at the top of the legislation list, that seems a little silly, but I'd be surprised if the vast majority of them aren't already doing so.

The issue is that Mississippi's state flag contains the Condederate Flag and most have been removed from campus.

Institutions, private citizens shouldn't be legislated to fly the flag or not fly it.

It should be their free choice.

Before Obama sent the liberals into a tizzy over the Confederate Flag, it appeared on posters, toys and was hung in dorm rooms and in front of homes, and no one thought twice about it.

It's a flag -- one that descendants of Confederates hold dear because it's part of their heritage.

All the PC silliness over it is just that -- PC silliness.

I think it's a dumb law to force universities to fly it -- but they have every right to fly it.

For me it's not so much the flag itself.

My problem is there are far more important issues that directly affect the people yet the legislature is wasting time on something so benign.

Universities are not free and independent entities. They are bought and paid for institutions of higher propaganda.

In public institutions, the choice should be legislative.

I'm pretty much neutral on this subject but do any of you think the rebel flag may have negative connotations for African Americans, a symbol of slavery?
