There's talk that the 'lithium battery genius' John Goodenough has created a new battery that, if true, will revolutionize electric cars. Others are skeptical. I post as food for thought....

Lithium batteries are not a long term solution. They are too volatile.
Eventually they will win the battle and come up with a battery that will allow electric autos to be used for commuting and reasonable traveling. Until they do electric cars will not become popular or mainstream.

Fascinating stuff.
I would prefer to have new batteries that revolutionize medium-term storage of electrical power for homes and other buildings.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

All we have to do is look at how far electric cars and batteries have come in the last 20 years. I would bet that if anyone predicted where we are today, and at the prices we see today, they might have been laughed at. If that same trend continues 20 more years they'll be mainstream. I think there will be a revolution in battery storage and solar. Auto bodies themselves will be molded batteries. Homes will be constructed with solar and storage built in. The walls and roof will probably be made of the materials.
So what are the benefits of this potential new technology? Well, the batteries are cheap to make in comparison, don’t require elements like lithium to work, are noncombustible, and are longer lasting. They also charge faster and can perform in subzero weather.
