And the Raiders wouldn't lease out a stadium? Reason they don't is because its just a lousy business proposition. The NFL would still hapoen, they'd build the stadiums, they'd be less profitable and the owners would make less and so too would the players -- unless they could just raise ticket prices. Nevertheless, there is no reason to foist the cost of this venue onto taxpayers. Other trams actually do own their stadiums by the way.

There are plenty of reasons for at least some of the funding to come from the city. The city benefits from the stadium and makes back what it gave them in a couple years.

Well then why wouldn't the Raiders do it. Here the NJ authority for the Meadowlabds finds a way to lose $26mn per year and apparently the Goants/Jets built the stadium, or at least I am led to believe. In any event, the Giants/Jets and other event holders, ie they do have concerts, should pay for that, not NJ taxpayers

I'm cool with that, so long as the city and the taxpayers don't benefit from its operations.

Pittsbugh voters voted down the referendum allowing tax dollars to fund new stadiums.

So they built new stadiums with tax dollars anyway.

My poor Niners will need more than that! They'll need for the ownership/ front office to start making good decisions again. They have been a detriment to the team since Harbaugh left. Starting with appointing the OL coach of a medicore ( I'm being kind) OL to the head job. Then they went and got Chip Kelly but NO Chip Kelly type offensive players. They stayed too long with Kap, who simply can't play well enough from the pocket to win. You can't have every play be a roll out, option or scramble.
Now the offenceless wonders spend the #3 overall pick and thier second round pick on defence . I hope they're good enough to hold up for the 40-45 minutes a game they will probably be on the field! Goos grief.

The "niners" should do better this year. I think John Lynch will make a good G.M. Before ccepting the job he let the owners know he wouldn't take the job if he couldn't do it his way. He's already made some good moves. The only questionable move he made in my opinion might be his choice of head coach. I hope the niners haven't made the same error as the Broncos did when they chose a great offensive coordinator who turned out to be a disastrous head coach, Josh McDaniels. He set the team back a few years.
