Christians have been questioning the way other Christians practice the Faith literally since Day One of the current calendar. My Anabaptist ancestors were persecuted, exiled or killed by the Catholic authorities for doing nothing more radical than questioning the efficacy of infant baptism. This is nothing new, though the injection of politics into it - as politics does with most other things - just makes it uglier, stupider and more destructive.

BTW, if Christians did not question the religious practice of other "Christians" there would be no such thing as Christianity. Why is it somehow wrong that Christians define their community? Methinks your sentiments stem from a very modern obsession with diversity and privacy. Secondly, your society would likely look a lot more like the societies of the Middle East had not certain ideas (heresies) been rejected by our ancestors so many moons ago.

Your Anabaptist ancestors were persecuted by the Protestant authorities because, like all stains of Protestantism, it was politically and cultural subversive. For some reason, moderns cannot wrap their minds around the fact that religious practice has always had ramifications for the political and social realms. Indeed, Martin Luther and his powerful sponsors, men far more interested in the political and economic benefits a break from Rome entailed, were shocked by the outbreak of rebellion and violence his ideas caused among the little people. The Protestant princes weren't having any of that.

You're right, of course - I stand corrected. The state churches, Lutheranism in particular, were the ones who largely encouraged and carried out the execution of Anabaptists in Europe.

You insinuated he was raped by a priest as a child. I don't care how many of your family members were molested by priests, that doesn't give you carte blanche to use that as a tool to belittle other posters.

Well the truth hurts. Even in the Bible strong women stepped up when they had no men willing or able.

For me, I will listen to a woman preach and I have no issue with it, but I will not attend a church where the men are so weak that a woman is over the church.
