    I'm sometimes envious of dogs and horses who's owners are able to detach their personal feelings and do what's best for "one of the family". Just saying...........

    You might find a way to gently remind her that thousands of dogs of all ages will be euthanized this year in the United States - many of which were at one time loved (or at least cared for) pets. They wait now in small cages somewhere, remembering what it was like to live with people in a real home and be a part of someone's family. You (and she) could be the savior that at least one of those dogs needs. I didn't know Maggie, but it's hard to imagine that a beloved family dog would want less for one of her own, or for her people.
