37 STATES CUT EDUCATION FUNDING THIS YEAR.....

    http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/...161147511.html

A majority of state governments have cut funding to K-12 schools this year as they struggle to balance their budgets without the $100 billion infusion from the federal stimulus that has now dried up.

Illinois, Kansas, Texas and Wisconsin have cut overall funding by more than 10 percent since the last fiscal year, according to a report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Thirty states are now funding their schools with lower budgets than they had in 2008 (measured in inflation-adjusted dollars), even though school populations have grown. Arizona, California, Hawaii and South Carolina are leading the way, having cut per-student funds by more than 20 percent since 2008.

The number of local education jobs decreased by 115,000 between September 2010 and September 2011, according to the report. Since September 2008, schools have eliminated 278,000 jobs.....snip~

Another thing not mentioned is that most of these states are led by Democratic State governments. Thats the majority of them. Now Obama's package deal also came with the creating of an Infrastructure Bank. Brought forth by Guess who. Mr I got to see Democracy in another country at the tax payers expense. John Kerry! Yes the republican oppose such due to the tax increases.

But who is it screwing over Teachers in the Democratically led states? Who is the ones that are cutting those jobs? Who is the ones that are breaking their Contract negotiations? So once again the MSM plays it off as republicans just oppose everything. But when in actual reality it the Democrats that are screwing their base over not Republicans.

Illinois, NY, California, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts. All Democratically State led governements. With the 3 largest cities in the country with 3 of the largest budget deficits and outspending the rest of the entire Country.

I'm not sure why education costs have ballooned. We spend massively on education. Where does it all go?

Campaign coffers of the Dems and in their pockets. Just like with the State Lotteries. Now you know why the infrastructure is crumbling all around. if they would have used the money for what it was for. then the infrastructure would not be as bad. Especially their mantra.....bridges. >

I'd like to see an accounting of where all this education spending goes. UI mean how much does it cost to learn?

I would have to say with Republican states as well. They just don't spend as much. Still with what they do they also have the same problem. T. Roosevelt knew what it was about with Pols and Corporations. Same thing with them and Education.

See if they were more Vocationally inclined. They could have wood shops. Molding and injection would be another. Then schools could actually be producing the tables and chairs etc etc. For their own selves. Currently they order from Office Suppliers. Who then in return order from the the Big 3 United, Acco, and there is another. I can't think of the name. They ship all across the country and just for all the Depts of Education and all their schools. Well....and then the Office Products and Printers Stores. Moreover you should see all the copy paper schools order. Worse are their Admin Offices and or Buildings.

Which is another thing to. Why do they need to have so many Admin buildings. Supers could be put somewhere in the school district in the school. They also should not be paid 6 digit salaries for being Admin.

Admin makes 6 digits? I need to start a website!

Seriously though you are correct. The administrations in education and their associated costs are sucking up that money.

Yeah my wife is a teacher and she says the same thing. Supers with Secretaries that have their own Secretaries. Yep 6 digit salaries. She also doesn't like that they make them pay dues which then goes to campaign donations. Even if they don't support those type of candidates. As a Music teacher she is one of the few and last around in Illinois. So she has to always worry. But then she got into Special Ed and after school programs which dont pay anything. She does it for the kids.

That's my suspicion too. No one can say that we don't spend enourlously on education in this country but we can say we are getting much bang for the buck.

Yet Obama and the left's whole mantra is Education for jobs. More money for Education. But one thing for sure is there is a lot of bureaucratic red tape that is going on. Mismanagement of funds and resources. Still they look to get more money from those that are their base.
