"hiding" implies some legal obligation to do so. He has no legal obligation to reveal his tax returns just like Chairman Maobama had no legal obligation to reveal his transcripts (despite the fact that most of his predecessor candidates did so. I suspect that Trump is doing what Obama did -- digging his heels in just b/c he's not going to be pushed around by people who are asking just to push a narrative. In litigation, I frequently refuse to turn over materials that I'm under no obligation to turn over that others have asked for. My sisters, both LWNJ's are all over facebook screaming about his tax returns and RUSSIA -- when I asked them calmly what they hoped to see they both, in separate emails, responded: RUSSIA. I asked for a clarification, they responded RUSSIA. One's an architect, one a school district superintendent. Bright women. Clueless about this.

Calm down Dave. Everyone is not so obsessed with Russia. I personally think that it's a red herring. However, Trump's history of avoiding taxes makes it a point of curiosity and the more that he refuses to reveal them, the more that they take on importance. Everyone knows that if he reveals them and it turns out that he is paying far less relative tax than the average citizen there will be ructions, which is likely why he is not revealing them. He has stated more than once that he doesn't pay one penny of tax that he doesn't have to and he has an army of tax accountants that ensure that he doesn't. It's just that as President he is going to lower taxes on some and shift them to others because someone has to pay the piper. His tax paying status will come up at that point, if his taxes are revealed.

I think every President should be required to provide proof of eligibility for office. Their tax returns mean nothing and are no one's business.

I wouldn't have cared, personally. The important questions wouldn't be revealed there anyway. The real questions are answered other places. People somehow seem to think it could reveal who they are indebted to, but my time in accounting has shown to me that this is completely false.
