Tax reform is DOA as long as Trump hides his

Even the Little Steve Munchkin Boy says he's revised his goal from August to the end of the year. But that won't happen either because we'll never see them unless Dems take back the Senate in 2018 and subpoena them. You know, because the last 15 years worth (including 2016) are "under audit" ;-)

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s promise to enact a sweeping overhaul of the tax code is in serious jeopardy nearly 100 days into his tenure, and his refusal to release his own tax returns is emerging as a central hurdle to another faltering campaign promise.

As procrastinators rushed to file their tax returns by Tuesday, the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, emphasized again on Monday that Mr. Trump had no intention of making his public. Democrats have seized on that decision, uniting around a pledge not to cooperate on any rewriting of the tax code unless they know specifically how that revision would benefit the billionaire president and his family.

And a growing roster of more than a dozen Republican lawmakers now say Mr. Trump should release them.

    That's silly.

It's pretty easy to know how a specific tax code would affect high earners because the upper income bracket is relatively low in comparison to what the top earners make.

Plus, they know Trump has investments, so they know there's a good chance that revisions that affect, say, 1031 exchanges or Capital Gains, will also affect Trump.

I'm not sure I want people who don't understand taxes to be writing tax codes. And, if they say they need to see Trump's taxes to know how changes in the tax code would personally affect them -- they're too dense to write the code in the first place.

We need to know not only about how changes in tax code would personally affect Trump, more importantly we need to know about his foreign entanglements which have already affected policy.

    Here's but one recent example:

Sigh. Again, his income tax returns won't detail foreign entanglements.

That's a ludicrous, yet understandable, mistake that many are making.

But, the one in the OP where Dems claim they need to see his returns to know if a tax code change will affect him is beyond belief.

Understand that you probably know more about tax code than i do.

However, the tax experts i've seen opine on this matter (including my own CPA) agree that MUCH would be revealed with several years of full returns.

"Tax legislation, they say, could be a plot by Mr. Trump to get even richer."

Frankly, they make a good point. Every congressperson. No, every federal employee that wrote one comma in the bill, or delivered coffee to someone that wrote a comma should also release theirs. I would hate to think that lowering taxes would enrich any of them. I'm game.

Every federal employee and those who deliver their coffee are not the President of the United States.

...but they all stand to profit. That would be improper, don't you agree? Shouldn't we know this? Shouldn't we know if some liberal Democrat makes a recommendation buried deep in the IRS that will make her (or her constituent) wealthy if accepted? Shouldn't that be fair game? We know constitutionally that the legislative branch writes the laws here so constitutionally congress has more say-so in this than Trump. This could be a plot to make some liberal even richer. We need to know this. We have to know this. It's only fair that those writing the laws (even more so than those charged constitutionally with implementing the laws) be transparent on how they stand to benefit from any tax changes.

    Don't you agree?

Can anyone explain why Donald Trump is hiding his tax returns if they can't show anything important or incriminating anyway?

    What is the reasoning here?

Tax returns are not public records. That is sufficient explanation.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.
