    Russian bombers come near Alaska

I think it is rather unlikely that the US and Russia will go to war against each other. Neither nation--or, more specifically, neither nation's leaders--wants it.

For the record, neither do I.

But there was a bit of tension just yesterday, as two nuclear-capable bombers flew within 100 miles of Alaska. These were met by two American jet fighters, who escorted the bombers away: Russian bombers fly near Alaska; Air Force scrambles jets | Fox News

I will reiterate that I do not expect war between the US and Russia. (My take, for what it is worth, is that Putin is simply testing this new president, to see what he can get away with.)

Still, I think Rex Tillerson (the US Secretary of State) was correct when he recently described relations between the two countries as being at a "low point" in recent times.

Nuclear armed submarines are parked off each other countries' respective coasts.

Trump and Tillerson have the ability to repair relations with Russia. Methinks they should stop whining about how bad it is, stop taking actions that make it worse, and then make it better.

It was simply a response to recent US actions.

    These things happen.

Do you seriously believe that the poor relations between the US and Russia are principally Donald Trump's fault?

Remember, Donald Trump came into office with high hopes (one might say, naïve hopes) that he could "work with" Russia.

He even spoke highly, at one time, of Vladimir Putin.

We intrude into their air and water spaces regularly - pretty easy to do in certain places ...

Don't see this as any big deal.

I don't, I think that its obvious Putin and Trump had a deal and are working together to throw everyone off the scent.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

    They have been for decades.

As for the Alaska thing, it used to be an almost weekly event for a Bear or a Backfire to skirt US airspace.

US F-22s Intercept Russian Nuclear Bombers Off the Coast of Alaska.....

Two Russian Tu-95 "Bear" nuclear-capable bombers flew off the coast of Alaska Monday night, coming as close as 100 miles from Kodiak Island according to Fox News.

The Russian bombers intentionally flew into the Air Defense Identification Zone of the United States, which triggered two F-22 fighter jets and an E-3 airborne early warning plane to intercept the aircraft.

Russia flew the same bombers off the coast of Japan last week to "send a message.”....snip~

If Russia was sending a message.....they got an immediate answer in return.
