Don't worry . You have already said that you would wimp it back to Hilly Billy Land and what you describe is Americans just playing at being themselves .

I grew up south west of New Orleans so I went through a lot of storms. Never evacuated. I was in the National Guard during Andrew and volunteered to drive a 5 ton truck full of ice, fresh water, and MREs to coastal areas. Got shot at in a couple of places but still delivered my supplies. At one point we got to a place in the road where an old lady's house had floated to and we had to keep her from going inside, it was about to collapse at any minute. Other soldiers brought in a bulldozer to get it off the road.

The key for these storms is to have supplies on hand to last 3-7 days minimum. The problem we see is too many people are conditioned to wait for government to help out. Well, after a big storm, the Nanny State is going to be a bit late with the free stuff. Prepare; personal responsibility. Something lost among the dependent class.

There will always be people who do need help... Key is.. make sure you aren't one of them.

Caring doesn't cut it... and I am shocked that you would frame it that way.. You mobilize your assets ahead of the storm in ways that those assets will not be victims of the storm.

"Caring" is BS.. when there is a hard job ahead of you.

I have never heard such craven idiocy.

That and many times the meteorologist will make something bigger than it is. But this time we could see the signs and the people should have went to higher ground. I don't leave if a storm is hitting NC but I don't live at sea-level or on the coast. But we still prepare, get anything out of the yard that may blow away, food, gas, water in bathtubs and still have 30 gallons in the basement. I have kerosene lamps, and hope we end up with power back on within 7 days. A small generator. We also get ice and snow storms in NC and many southern places have many trees that will fall and put you out of electricity.

You don't wait on the government to help you, except the ones trying to restore electricity.

I'm surprised at new yorkers. I thought they were tougher. Still, the gov't has caused this situation. Bloomberg should have been thinking about flooding seeing as he is so gung ho a believer in the rising of the oceans duje to Globaloney Warming. Guy sorta focused on the wrong things. And most of those in need seem to be women. I don't know, that's all i'm seeing.

I hear he was more worried about the race and some homeless that were put up in motel or hotel rooms were asked to leave before he called it off. Talk about insensitive.
