I have been thru a dozen hurricanes.. and it is generally VERY difficult.. We had no power for 3 weeks after Hugo.

If those idiots break out rioting and looting, its on them.

    Wtf?

Would someone tell me how the hell you run of out water on a planet that has most of it's surface covered by water? In a nation that ranks among the most populated with rivers and free flowing non-salinated water at that.

OH but that's right ignore all of that, it points to the colossal waste of taxpayer money this President and such unconstitutional entity's as FEMA really are.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religiouspeople. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. ~Still waiting to see one of you liberals demonstrate that "separation of church and state" is a concept that is actually enumerated in our Constitution.

And not just a liberal activist, legislate from the bench, fabrication.

I know my Husband lived and worked in Harlem for over 5 years before I met him and he said even he would hate to be there now. I have only visited on business and don't know much about NY and NJ.

After Ike we had two weeks no power, no looting here....things that make one go hmmm....I think it's more about the class of people in the region than the event that cause a breakdown of public utility.

Water is often contaminated after flooding and infrastructure damage.. That's why they give you a boil order, but if you have no power, you can't boil.

Most people plan ahead and store water before a hurricane.

Yes, my mom always talked about Hazel but I never experienced a big one until Hugo going that far inland. Hugo wiped out the boardwalk at the SC beach and even caused destruction west in NC.

If you have bleach, use a top full off the lid and let it sit for at least 45 minutes. Better than nothing. But I would just start a fire and boil the water.

I have done the bleach thing as well.. It works.

There are many things you can do if you have a back yard, a charcoal grill etc.. but living in a 7th floor APT with the elevator on the fritz would be really hard.

I know many people in Cheraw, Macbee, and Chesterfield. Didn't live there but many kin people.
The ones that lived at the beach headed towards us only to find out it was bad there too. No cell phones back then. Mom always canned things so they always had food and plenty of water and Dad had barrels of gas and kerosine. We lived on a small farm.
