I saw this on a Discovery type of channel. Essentially they take cameras and they point cameras one way and then project them in a way that instead of seeing the object you see the screen projecting what your eye would see if the object weren't there.

Its not perfect and if you really stare you kind've can tell something is amiss, but its good enough that if you're not really focused on that spot you aren't going to pay attention to it.
