I was a police officer for 30 years. We hired Christians who applied, took the tests, interviewed, and didn't mention that they shouldn't have to work on Sunday until after they were hired. They didn't get what they wanted. If someone did say, before they applied or tested, that they wouldn't work on Sunday we would suggest they find another line of work.

If you have peculiar personal needs then you need to find a job that accommodates those needs. It's not up to employers to accommodate you.

In the immortal words of someone "$#@! em" . If your job includes working during religious times deal with it. I'll bet their cool with the christian nurses and docs working the ER on a Sunday when THEY need it.

You are part of the problem. People who believe as you do guarantee our laws will become Sharia-compliant. Each tiny change will go unnoticed. Precedent will build upon precedent. And your children will live under Sharia.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

If you were wearing a cross around your neck and the police commissioner told you and others not to wear it while working, would you have issue with that?

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

Believing yourself beyond capable of being wrong or mistaken is a sure sign of a huge ego and is a handicap in life to any who regard themselves, that way.

I guess your apology is now null and void.

Anyway, I gave an example of how companies can adapt to employees' needs, which had nothing to do with religion.

If it were visible, of course not. A police officer isn't being paid to advertise his religion, Amway, the Masons, or the Democrat Party. We had an officer put a political sticker on his patrol car and he got to remove it on his own time.

I would not have allowed officers to wear symbols of their religion with their uniforms. But, women working in records were free to wear small crosses or small Stars of David if they wished.
