Think tank recommends big (military) benefits cuts

Think tank recommends big benefits cuts

A new report by a liberal-leaning think tank recommends a dramatic overhaul of military pay, retirement and health care benefits as part of a $1 trillion cut in defense spending over 10 years.

    The Center for American Progress
calls for capping pay raises, eliminating military health benefits for many retirees who are covered by an employer-provided plan, and reducing the value of military retired pay as well as making retirees wait until age 60 to start receiving it.

Recommendations are included in a report, Rebalancing Our National Security, released Oct. 31 by the progressive think tank and advocacy group. The report opposes across-the-board cuts in defense spending that could occur beginning in January under sequestration but still calls for major reductions in defense spending.
That's right, stab our soldiers in the back for their service and sacrifice.

Weaken the military and weaken America --->
    Soros' globalist agenda.

As globalism becomes more apparent from the Democrat/left, America will push back harder. See the signs.....it's already happening. It started in the mid-terms of 2010.

Why is it when cuts need to be made, the first place the idiots-in-charge look is at the military budget? If even a small percentage of the thinktank morons would spend a week in combat boots, doing everything a military person does as at least a 4-year commitment and many for 20 years, they wouldn't be so damn quick to start taking big painful bites out of already-scant benefits.....and they ARE scant, for the massive and awesome job that gets done every day.

How about we start taking big painful bites out of the immense benefits congressmen, senators and other civil servants receive (and get to enjoy after serving their country, in a nice OFFICE for Pete's sake, for far less than 20 years, BTW)......? Let's spread the damn cuts to where they might affect someone else's standard of living, and cause someone else to cry uncle for a change....like maybe the federal bean-counters and lawmakers, for instance. This topic just frosts my cookies....I could start a major rant about it, but there's no point. Thanks for bringing it up, though, Trin.

Well, you certainly can't cut welfare to Democrat voters, so you have to cut military benefits. Besides, they vote Republican.

All the money spent giving free phones to minorities in key battleground states can't be cut either, not in the slightest to help defend America.

This is why I think Odumba, at heart, truly wants to destroy this glorious nation. He's doing everything he can to make us vulnerable.

I will be scared if we lose this election.

I don't want welfare to be cut to people who really need it. I want jobs to help them get off welfare. The Dem party wants them to rely on the government. If they get a job most benefits stop. They should encourage them to work and still help until they can completely leave the welfare system.

But getting a job gets people off the government teat. Off the government teat creates freedom for the individual with the job. Creating freedom is the exact opposite of what Dems aim to do.

It's like a flow chart. Keeping people on the government teat keeps them enslaved to the Commiecrat party.

I know and these phones don't give you unlimited talk. It's mostly to be able to call 911 or a family member. I know we all cut down this program but as an independent con some do need help because they can't afford a phone much less a land line. I try always to look at both sides and if I had a mom on a fixed income it would be nice to know I could keep in touch. It's the ones running around abusing this program that gets people upset.

Where do you get gems like that?
Do you mean people to take it literally or are you tinkering with the British style ---- a touch of inverted sarcasm sprinkled with surrealism . ?
