I really don't know, I was assuming soft lumber is pine? Or are we talking about the paneling?

On Twitter, Breitbart News White House correspondent Charlie Spiering quoted Trump as saying, "We're going to be putting a 20% tax on softwood lumber coming in — tariff on softwood coming into the United States from Canada."

The Commerce Department later announced it had reached a preliminary determination and would impose countervailing duties ranging from 3 percent to 24 percent on imported softwood lumber, with an average of about 20 percent.

One person in the room said Trump threatened that dairy could be next.

The Canadian government, meanwhile, rejected the assessment, calling the duty "unfair and punitive."

They warned the action would have a negative impact on American families who will have to pay more to build or renovate homes. And they said they would sue, if necessary......snip~

Trump wasnt kidding when he said he would protect US dairy farmers from Canada trying to change policy on pricing to cover more dairy ingredients.....Eh!
Before it is said and done we will be in trade wars with all our neighbors and best trading partners, anyone that believes a trade war with the world would be good for the US economy or job growth is an idiot.

A Trade war with Canada now means we will have a trade war with the rest of the World?????

You should read what Resister has up about this issue that has been going on since the 1980s. Then throw in what Canada wants to do with Dairy ingredients.

Just went with the landlord today to by enough lumber to repaid about 3 ft of a wooden bridge and frame a little shack over a water heater (roofing tin for roof and walls) 58 $

Wonder if this tarrif will make that number rise or fall?

If it makes the price go up, how does that work? I know this question seems obvious but I think there may be more to it.

Maybe it's time to revive the Anerican timber industry.

We now have very effective reforestation techniques.
