    Rupert Murdoch on post Oreilly

uh not so fast Rupert, it might be curiosity seekers checking out the new lineup, those ratings may or may not hold.

Here's the internal memo Rupert Murdoch just sent Fox News staff after the first day of the post-Bill O'Reilly era

Rupert Murdoch on Tuesday congratulated Fox News staff in an internal memo after the first day of the network's new lineup following star host Bill O'Reilly's departure.
"Last night’s ratings are in and I couldn’t be more proud to announce that, not only did FOX News beat all other cable news competition with our new primetime debut, but we also increased our ratings 31% in total viewers and 54% in the demo compared to last year," the executive chair of 21st Century Fox wrote in the memo obtained by Business Insider.
"This was a stellar performance that couldn’t have happened without the amazing effort and dedication from everyone on the team over the last week," he said.

Murdoch continued: "I know the last few weeks have been tough for everyone here, but our passion for news and commitment to our viewers continue to lead us through. Congratulations and thank you for all your hard work."
Fox's new lineup on Monday indeed drew a notably sizable viewership despite the absence of O'Reilly, who left the network last week following newly revealed sexual harassment allegations against the host.
On Monday, Tucker Carlson, who took over O'Reilly's 8 p.m. slot, drew just under 3.2 million viewers, far more than the entire 8 p.m. viewership of CNN and MSNBC combined. Though he did not match O'Reilly's viewership, Carlson delivered almost exactly the same number of viewers in advertisers' coveted 25-54 age demographic as O'Reilly did his final show.
"The Five," which now occupies Carlson's former 9 p.m. slot, also debuted to strong ratings, besting MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, who notably overtook Carlson among viewers aged between 25 and 54 in March.
It remains to be seen whether the network can sustain the audience that O'Reilly drew. Last week's fill-in hosts, Dana Perino and Eric Bolling, failed to match O'Reilly's numbers.
The network has faced increased negative scrutiny and potential legal trouble after the release of a New York Times story earlier this month detailing a long history of sexual-harassment allegations against O'Reilly, the network's decades-long star.

O'Reilly appealed to a segment of the population, but a less inflammatory right-wing show would appeal to a greater amount of people and be more palatable to those who watch Fox but don't appreciate the nut jobs like O'Reilly and Hannity.

I didn't see O'Reilly as being particularly right wing. He could be inflammatory or volatile at times, but he seemed to hold some fairly liberal views on social issues.

You are a nut job Adelaide. First of all Hannity and O'Reilly were not even close in style, substance, programming, or beliefs..........That post along shows you don't watch and judge. You just repeat and hate like you have been trained to do by wherever you get your information. Pointless because it's so inaccurate based on the facts.

Also, Common makes another pointless post. All management did was congratulate the start of a new era. That is all he said nothing more nothing less, no future predictions. Not to mention it was an internal email and nothing inaccurate or out of line. I am sure many have had meetings internally and he was trying to support people. POINTLESS!

    UH UH Not So Fast..................

Yep, the people who tuned into Little Tucker's old slot were probably expecting Little Tucker and same deal for some who didn't hear about O'Reilly's departure thus giving Tucker inflated numbers in his place.

    Anythings possible Bo.

The real point here is this is just another stupid trolled hit piece that served no real purpose other than they hate someone. Not to mention they don't actually even understand the people they are talking about. They just repeat what they hear.

Why wouldn't an executive/owner based on the rough time they have had send out an email like that for encouragement? If it were MSNBC I would say the same thing.

The fact is, no matter what happens Fox News consistently creams their competition. There's a reason for that.
