    Clarification

These "announcement" tips are kind of useless when the thread is locked, just saying.

So for clarification, I was dinged for truncating a quote, because sometimes people blather and I might want to focus on just one part of their comment (without altering the meaning of that specific section - not changing the meaning).

So is it ok to edit (truncate) a quote if the meaning isn't materially changed? Or is bolding the part you're referring to in a quote the better option?

    You should bold your trunk.

I sometimes do that particularly when a member's comment is based upon an absurd premise. I quote the comment through the premise in question.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

I cut quotes and cut out irrelevant language but I don't change meaning.

    Yes, that's fine.

And feel free to discuss announcements in seperate threads like this. We just want to keep announcements clean.
