Much more even than just .

Department of fish and wildlife is one of the few extremely important and efficient state/fed run programs.

Without hunters we actually put wildlife in more danger via disease, overpopulation, etc.

It's not just important, it's mandatory.

Agreed, that's where I was going with it.

It has become a remarkable science.

I understand hunting for food. I don't understand hunting for pleasure or getting a kick out of killing.

Seriously though, anybody who has even had a dog or cat should know what they have feelings.

P.S. don't thread ban me for the humorous picture please.

Women genetically aren't providers in this sense.

The knee-jerk crowd seems to focus on the sport and "killing" aspect of hunting out of ignorance IMO when in reality it's for true sportsmen just a part of the overall tradition. Conservation and ethics are part of it also among other things and while I don't speak for all hunters (and fishermen for that matter), I have no issue with preserving a "trophy" animal and I always eat what I kill.

I can't say that I understand the sport part of it either. That implies a contest where both parties face equal risk in defeat. To me, it would be "sporting" to go out in the woods with a knife. Then you have to get up close and personal with your competitor. You might kill or injure animal or it might kill or injure you.

That's why it's only part of it. The objective is a clean kill with minimal suffering.

The alternative may be suffering at the hands (or claws) of a predator or starvation/disease.

Then it's not sport, it's culling. Hopefully, those who are doing the culling are not taking out the top of the gene pool because they make better looking trophies because if they do, they weaken the species.

Culling if you want to call it that is part of it. It's not one-faceted, that's the objectors biggest mistake.

And it's not weakening the species, you really should read up on conservation. It's the opposite.

If you take out the stag or buck that has defeated most of his competition and therefore is the one impregnating all the does, you are damaging the local deer population. That's all I'm saying. Conservation officers will target the old, sick and weak, much as natural predators would.
