I wonder, is there a government program that forgives mortgages, car loans, maxed out credit cards......other than bankruptcy?

Yeah, rack up that student loan debt, persueing a career, can't or, don't want to pay it back? No problem! The US government will!

In true socialistic fashion, rack up that debt, don't worry about it, someone else will pay it!

Ya know, "free" is only free, to the person on the receiving end, someone else IS paying for it.

If the banks had to assume the risk for education loans, like other loans, they would be more careful who they loaned money to and that would include a planned course of study. If there isn't a likelihood of a job, it doesn't really matter how smart the prospective student is. Some sort of entrepreneurial business plan could help.

I think it's going to be tough to pull out of that commitment.

Medicare is ran the same way, bureaucratic incompetence.

So why not give single payer the keys.

    Quick information on Pell grants:
    • A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid.
    • The maximum Pell grant for the 2015–16 award year (July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2016) is $5,775.
    • The amount depends on your financial need, costs to attend school, status as a full-time or part-time student, and plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.
    • Learn more about Pell grants.
    • To apply, complete the FAFSA.

I don't think letting kids run up huge loans and then declare bankruptcy is the answer either. If you borrow the money pay it back, really is that simple. My kids have student loans they are on a 10 year plan to pay them off.
Or can we start a new program where I get to buy a house pay on the mortgage a few years, then just stop, loan is cancelled all is good........

I guess the 100 Democrats that voted for that bill had nothing to do with it??

You realize that it takes like 100,000 jobs a month just to break even with the number of new people entering the work force , right? So unless that was factored in to these stats Bushbama presided over one stagnent 16 years!

Bankruptcy is a legitimate tool. If it was allowed with student loans there would be less stupid education loans made.

A moron wants to go to college. No loan.

An A student wants to major in basket weaving. No loan.

Allow the banks to assess risk before tossing money at someone.

More like 320K. The "news" mentioned that before Obama.
