Don't care about democracy? Well America was never a democracy! A republic with democratically elected representatives.

The repugnants went with their democratically elected nominee but the demoncraps? Well they did not have any damn thing democratic in their process, Sanders never got a fair shake.

So next time consider your words @Dr. Who . Seems to me the left is the issue.

I mean democracy works and the left takes it to court to have the will of the people overturned. Voter ID, marriage being defined as between a man and a woman, boy scouts...

Yeah it is all about democracy as long as the left wants it but let it be something they disagree with... Totalitarianism is what they want.

Trump has a history of hiring the most incompetent people for the job.
But, it was Obama that signed the law into effect permitting that.

A republic relies on rule of law instead of rulers. The people who make the laws must be elected. You can't have a republic without democracy.

    Correct.
And where did I state differently? If this were a pure democracy we would have failed! It is a republic (as I said) with democratically elected representatives.

Really it is group sovereignty vs individual sovereignty. Individuals have rights in a republic but in a democracy the mob rules. It does seem that both sides tend to forget that at times but it is what it is. We are, again, a republic and not a democracy!

    Definition of republic

    • 1a (1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president (2) : a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of governmentb (1) : a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law (2) : a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of governmentc : a usually specified republican government of a political unit the French FourthRepublic
    • 2: a body of persons freely engaged in a specified activity the republic of letters
    • 3: a constituent political and territorial unit of the former nations of Czechoslovakia, the U.S.S.R., or Yugoslavia
    Definition of democracy

    plural democracies

    • 1a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majorityb : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
    • 2: a political unit that has a democratic government
    • 3capitalized : the principles and policies of the Democratic party in the U.S.from emancipation Republicanism to New Deal Democracy — C. M. Roberts
    • 4: the common people especially when constituting the source of political authority
    • 5: the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges
Pretty much by definition, mob rule vs rule of law.
